Spring 2026 Pop-up #2 - Bird Alliance of Oregon Green Leaders & Friends of Baltimore Woods

Engaging Young Green Leaders to Restore Baltimore Woods

Bird Alliance of Oregon Green Leaders is a youth workforce development program for participants between the ages of 15-20 who are residents of Hacienda CDC in Northeast Portland. The program is designed to empower young adults with hireable skills in the field of conservation. Currently, the program offers two areas of focus - one in environmental education and the other in horticulture. One of their ongoing projects is removing invasive plant species and planting native vegetation to help restore the Baltimore Woods wildlife corridor. Green Leaders have also supported and participated in FOBW community events, like the watercolour plein-air class.

The Friends of Baltimore Woods is an energetic community of neighbors dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the remnant woodland and wildlife corridor known as Baltimore Woods, in St Johns. They gather and empower neighbors through weekly habitat restoration work parties, host community events and improve the livability of their St Johns neighborhood.

Ordering native plants to be pick-up at their joint pop-up event, in St Johns, on Fri, April 24 and Sat, April 25 supports their inspiring partnership. Proceeds from the sale will help them organize more restoration work parties and community events, propagate native plants for the corridor and ensure the Baltimore Woods greenspace for future generations of green leaders.
