Carex densa

This adaptable, deer-resistant sedge provides a wonderful alternative to many ornamental grasses.  Its triangular culms and grass-like leaves form attractive tufts which remain green throughout the year. An inhabitant of wetlands, riparian areas, and wet meadows this sedge does very well in water or rain gardens or around ponds and streams where its dense rhizomes provide excellent erosion control and bank stabilization. It prefers full to partial sun and is fast-growing. (Oregon Flora Project)
