Hummingbird Garden

Oregon is home to seven species of Hummingbirds and you are likely to see at least two of them visit your yard in the Portland metro area if you plant a native hummingbird garden - the shimmering green and pink Anna's Hummingbird and the rusty red Rufous Hummingbird.  Hummingbirds have evolved with native plants to get the nectar they need across a spectrum of plants that bloom throughout the year.  We recommend planting multiple layers of hummingbird attracting trees, shrubs and groundcover in your hummingbird garden to give them safe habitat while they feed.  To further attract hummingbirds, set up a small sprinkler or mister in your birdbath so they can catch the water droplets mid-air. Filter collection by sun or shade and dry, moist or wet soil to find the perfect plants for your hummingbird garden.
