This evergreen shrub has shiny, leathery pointed leaves that are about 3/4” long and arranged quite closely in a rather horizontal manner along the twigs. The pink bell shaped flowers are small (1/4”) and appear in clusters of 3–10 from April through July. The shiny, dark blue berries are very sweet, and are said to taste best after a frost. In the shade, Evergreen Huckleberry will tend to have a more open form than when grown in the open (Portland Plant List, 2016)
