Ceanothus cuneatus

  • Canopy layer: large shrub

  • Moisture requirements: dry, well-drained soil
  • Growth rate: medium
  • Special features: evergreen, wildlife favorite

Evergreen, round or spreading shrub.  Add as part of a wildlife habitat in sunny, dry, rocky, well-drained gardens. Drought resistant once established. Early summer fragrant small flowers attract pollinators.  Tough, thorny, rigid branches provide excellent cover for birds. Buckbrush has the ability to fix nitrogen in soil similar to other ceanothus shrubs.
