One of the first native shrubs to flower in the early spring, Osoberry, also known as  Indian Plum, produces 2–3” hanging chains of delicate greenish white flowers. The flowers appear just as the bright green new leaves are appearing. The small oval fruit, a favorite with birds, is initially yellow-gold, and turns a dull bluish-black as it ripens in late summer. In the open, Indian Plum may form a large, dense shrub while in the shade it may be more open and sprawling. (Portland Plant List, 2016)
