Fall 2025 Pop-up #2 - Partnership on the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge

A Partnership Forged in Nature and Friendship

Friends of the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge and Oregon Chinese Coalition have been forging a nature and place-based partnership on the refuge since 2021.

The mission of the Friends of TRNWR is to protect and restore refuge habitats as well as provide nature education and recreation. For over four years, the Oregon Chinese Coalition has helped them achieve this goal.

The mission of the Oregon Chinese Coalition is to build a vibrant community by promoting Chinese culture and heritage, serving the Chinese American community in Oregon, and ensuring that no one is left behind. They advance their community’s interests through advocacy, education, and engagement, while fostering a sense of belonging and inclusivity for all.

Together, these two groups hold regular restoration work parties and community events, including an annual nature based youth art contest. The top judged entries are featured throughout the year on the gallery wall at the TRNWR Visitor Center.

Ordering plants to be picked up at our second pop-up event (Fri, Oct 10 & Sat, Oct 11) supports this special partnership.
