Spring 2026 Pop-up #4 - The Blueprint Foundation & Columbia Slough Watershed Council

A Partnership Forged on the Columbia Slough
The Blueprint Foundation and Columbia Slough Watershed Council (CSWC) are working together to leverage their shared commitment to environmental justice and community empowerment through training, workforce development and job creation for Black and Indigenous communities.Â
The Blueprint Foundation reconnects Black-identified youth and young adults to nature by providing mentorship and culturally specific learning opportunities. By tending to the environment, Blueprint youth invest in nature, their communities, and themselves. It is their mission to empower future generations one seed, one tree, one stream at a time.
CSWC protects and enhances the Columbia Slough and its watershed through community engagement, education, and restoration. CSWC brings people together to improve water quality, heal damaged fish and wildlife habitat, increase public awareness, and advocate for a healthy watershed. Everything they do is possible thanks to the commitment of community members, engagement of local agencies and businesses and partnerships with groups like Blueprint.Â
Ordering plants to be pick-up at their pop-up event, in East Portland, on Fri, May 8 and Sat, May 9 supports this inspiring partnership. Proceeds from the sale will support their Columbia Slough-based projects, including their annual Vanport Stewardship Event, which connects students to the watershed’s history while addressing the disenfranchisement of Black communities following the 1948 floods through environmental restoration.Â
